JCCV CONCOURS 2016 d’ELEGANCE & d’ETAT ENTRANTS JUDGING : Saturday 19th November 2016

CONCOURS PREPARATION TIPS SHEET

For previous entrants and Members who are thinking about it the following tips on car preparation are to encourage you to put in an entry. The following tips are provided to help you either as a first time entrant or to help improve on last years results. As well as these tips a big hint is CLEANLINESS – often a lot of points are lost because the car is not very clean inside and out, including all glass, for either event.

Tips for 2016 d’Elegance Entrants

Judging for d’Elegance will take place at the JCCV Clubrooms on Saturday 19th November starting at 9.00am. Vehicles are to be in position by 8.00am All vehicles are required to be on display at Wesley College 9.00am until 3.00pm on Sunday 20 November 2016. Authenticity is the major difference between d’Elegance and d’Etat and applies only to d'Elegance.

Authenticity means that the car has to be original or authentically restored to the condition it was when it left the factory.

Some originality items include:

  • Original clips, screws, to the time of manufacture.
  • All 5 wheels and tyres must match (be correct size and type) or 4 plus space saver.
  • Tool box needs to be complete including the jack.

Hints for cleanliness include:

  • Clean top edge of the windows (the part you don’t see if your window is wound up).
  • Clean the spare wheel and the boot compartment.
  • Judges will ask you to remove the spare wheel – so make sure you do and clean the wheel and underneath in the wheel compartment.
  • Remove all mats and clean the carpet of any dirt, gravel and fluff.
  • Make sure the glove box is clean and empty (remove all personal items from the car)
  • Clean the pleats in the seat with a vacuum cleaner and everything inside.
  • Clean the glass on the instrument panel.
  • Remove all covers and remove all seat covers.
  • Have the correct manual and hand books in the car (make sure they are clean and tidy).

These are useful hints and we hope they help you. You learn by entering for the first time and it is a challenge to try and improve your result the following year. We recommend that you join in and have some fun.

Tips for 2016 d’Etat Entrants

Vehicles are to be judged on Saturday 19 November at the JCCV Clubrooms. They must be in position for judging by 8.00am. All cleaning to cease by 9.00am.

Tips on cleanliness for the d'Elegance entrants, apply equally to this class. The following tips may also assist you in preparing your Jaguar for this year’s event:

  • No spare wheel or tool kit or owner’s manual will lose maximum points for each.
  • Make sure you include Jaguar related items i.e. owner’s manual.
  • Clean under the carpets, back of sun visors, pockets, ashtrays, radio aerials , folding mirrors, fuel filler opening ,number plates and all wheel parts seen from outside.

These tips cover items that are frequently overlooked or first time entrants are not aware that these items will be inspected. We hope that they will be of some benefit as you prepare your vehicle.

Good luck to all entrants, Alan McKinnon (Concours Director)
