MK VII, VIII, IX

When great cars of the world are spoken of MK VIIs must be included. The advertising slogan says it all "Grace, Space and Pace". This vehicle was Jaguar's post-war flag ship. A completely new body design, the brilliant XK engine, the well proven chassis suspension and a superb interior.

The export drive strongly supported by the UK Government encouraged Jaguar to follow up the success the XK 120 had in the USA (and for that matter in Australia).

Motoring writers stated the MK VIII was measurably better than her competitors both at home and overseas. Paul Skilleter, Phil Peters, Kennett Ullyett and many other authors and journalists have all described the XK engine as one of the success stories of motoring.

The MKVII a large powerful car was to be run with great success both on race tracks and in rallys. With the introduction of the MK VIII (1956) and then the MK IX (1958) continued improvements kept the car right up to date. By the end of the production, standard equipment available included the larger 3.8 litre motor, power steering and 4 wheel disc brakes.

The register also includes the 60's large car the MKX and 420G
